What Is An Air Gun Moderator?
You might have heard people talk about air rifle moderators or you’ve seen the pro combination package you’re looking at includes one, but what are they, what do they look like and what do they do?
What Is An Air Rifle Moderator? (and what does it look like)
Put simply, an air rifle moderator is a device that screws onto the end of your rifle’s barrel and gives you a quieter shot.
Which is why they’re also known as “silencers”.
They all have a very similar design – which is a cylindrical tube, with lengths that vary depending on the model.
Typically made from metal, these moderators often feature a black matte finish, adding to their sleek appearance while reducing glare.
Here’s some pictures of popular rifle moderators we sell:

How Does An Air Rifle Moderator Work?
The way moderators work is quite clever. There’s a series of baffles inside it which muffles the sound as it goes through, quietening down your rifle.
They work much better on PCP air rifles where the sound comes from the barrel rather than the actual action.
Whereas on a spring gun a silencer (moderator) does make a difference but not really to the person shooting it, more to the quarry that you’re shooting because it’s downrange.
Where Can You Buy Them?
You can purchase sound moderators in our store, but not online, as they require delivery by an RFD instead of regular postal services. This increases the cost of online purchases, which is not economical for you given their initial price – meaning you’d get a better deal if you went to your local dealer.
With that being said, you can get moderators from us online through our Pro Combination Packages (or as an add on to our regular air rifles), as you’ll be getting the rifle package delivered to your home or nearest RFD anyway. It’s just standalone moderators that don’t make sense to buy online (in terms of price due to delivery).
